Wi-Fi credentials failed - Purple Sad Face

Wi-Fi credentials failed

If you see a cloud icon with a purple sad face, it means the PlayCube couldn’t save or apply the Wi-Fi credentials you entered into the app.

This is usually caused by an incorrect password, the wrong network selected, or a connection/security issue on the home router.

Common causes:

  • Wrong Wi-Fi password
  • Wrong Wi-Fi network (SSID) selected
  • Router/network security settings blocking the connection

Before you start

Please verify these quick items first:

  •  Move the PlayCubes close to your Wi-Fi router (same room is best)
  •  Turn Bluetooth ON on your phone
  •  Make sure your phone is connected to the same Wi-Fi network you want the cubes to use
  •  Ensure the MouthCube is in “Looking for Wi-Fi” / “Wi-Fi is not connected” status (this is when the app can detect it)

Step-by-step fix

1) Re-send Wi-Fi credentials (most common fix)

  1. Open the Tokidos Parental App
  2. Tap Connect PlayCubes
  3. Select your Wi-Fi network again
  4. Carefully re-enter the password

Watch for capital letters, spaces, and similar characters (0 vs O)

Wait 30–60 seconds for the connection to complete. If it connects successfully, the MouthCube should say “Wi-Fi is connected!” and show a colorful animation.

2) Try a phone hotspot (to identify where the problem is)

This step helps confirm whether the issue is your home network or something else.

  1. Turn on Personal Hotspot on your phone (or another phone)
  2. In the Tokidos app, choose the hotspot network from the Wi-Fi list
  3. Enter the hotspot password and try connecting again

What the result means

✅ If the hotspot works: your cubes are OK — it’s likely your home router/network configuration or security settings

❌ If the hotspot also fails: continue to the next step

3) Normal Reset, then retry

  1. Press the bottom reset button on the cube (Normal Reset)
  2. Wait for it to reboot fully
  3. Try sending Wi-Fi credentials again in the app

4) If it still fails: consider a Factory Reset

⚠️ Factory Reset will erase games/progress/files.

Use this if:

  • You’re also seeing other strange symptoms (glitches, corrupted visuals, persistent odd behavior)
  • Normal resets don’t help

Follow the Factory Reset guide instructions here.

Troubleshooting quick fixes

Double-check you’re using the right adapter

  • Please use a 2A+ adapter and avoid fast charging adapters.
  • Charge for a bit, then retry the Wi-Fi steps
