Combine ingredients by adding quantities instead of numbers, to create magical potions and help the villagers. A great game to learn additions before mastering numbers.

About the game

Math Alchemist is a playful introduction to math where players manipulate quantities instead of numbers. As an alchemist's assistant in a whimsical fantasy world, players craft potions for villagers through 10 story-driven quests. Each potion is made in 3 steps, requiring the player to add changing quantities to progress.

How to play:
- The game randomly selects one of the quests, starting with the villager's request.
- Once the first instruction is given, the player must add the quantities by snapping the cubes together.
- Then, simply shake the cube with the result over the cauldron to transfer the quantity of the ingredient.
- Once all the steps are completed, the potion is finished. The quest ends with a narrative sequence.

Dungeons and dragons for little kids

I wasn't sure about this, since it seemed a little too elementary for my 4 YO who has a special interest in math. He loved the Peter Rabbit game at first, but now asks for it to include multiplication and seems a bit bored with it. I got "math alchemist" anyway on the recommendation of Tokidos and am SO GLAD I did. This isn't just a math game; it's a really soothing dungeons and dragons game for littles. Mine doesn't like music, but this music is soft and comforting and the voice is so lovely. The names of the ingredients are really special and he often repeats them, smiling. The only negative is that he gets to 15 quickly, and then it seems that 10+5 is the equation that's repeated -- for a game like this, I think it would be better if they scaled down again since more variety would keep him interested, and it's not the math per se that is his favorite thing about the card. He's been playing with it more as a make-pretend game that is appropriate for an older set, so even if your child has mastered basic counting, it's still a fun game to play, especially at bedtime, as a way to wind down but give in to playing one more game before going to bed. The soothing voice and music are also a bonus for bedtime.

Must have

My 4 YO has a speech delay and, while he can write all of his letters, has trouble making sounds like “f.” This is the game he has the hardest time with and therefore the one he gravitates to the most. He does have trouble transitioning from one sound to pairing two sounds but otherwise really loves it. If you are wavering at all, get this card! We love it so much and it’s nice that he can pick up a game from where he left off.

Ma filles Adorent être une alchimiste qui aide les clients de sa boutique :) elle a adoré l'interaction des cubes et les mouvements qui donne l'impression qu'elle fait réellement une potion magique !
